Here at Leila we had a blockbuster holiday season, with lots of special events, trunk shows, and benefits. Our special event to benefit The Dwelling Place last month allowed us to donate a generous check to that worthy organization and help homeless families enjoy a happy holiday season.
As we look towards 2013 we are planning more events, including events to benefit other organizations. If you would like to set up a benefit for your favorite charity or organization please call us!
We're planning something special for Valentine's Day too - stay tuned for details.
Sarah and I are going to the jewelry and accessories shows next week to look for great new and exciting baubles to entice you. Later in the month we will hit the gift show and crafts shows so we can bring in more of those great items that work for so many occasions - weddings, housewarmings, anniversaries, hostess gifts, bar/bat mitzvahs, and birthdays. We'll also be looking for very special baby gifts (grandparents, you'll love these!) and great, inexpensive hostess gifts, which seem to be in high demand.
The winter holidays may be over, but there's always a reason to buy a gift! Come in and see what's new at Leila.

Trunk Show at Leila Jewels Saturday 12-4!
Trunk Show!!!
This Saturday, November 17, from 12 to 4pm we will be showcasing the jewelry of Judy Bliss, a designer from Bethesda who has had her work carried at Saks Jandel and Bloomingdale's, as well as boutiques throughout the country. Judy uses colored gemstones in asymmetrical styles for modern, edgy looks as well as delicate colorful styles.
She will bring many of her pieces to show and sell just in time for holiday gift buying at Leila. Come join us and enjoy light refreshments, music and the chance to chat with Judy about her work.

You'll be happy to know that Leila Jewels weathered Hurricane Sandy without any damage, and we only had to be closed half a day. Tuesday dawned gray and rainy but without high winds so we were able to open on time.

Then on Sunday, December 2 from 12 to 4pm we will reprise our very successful Gold and Silver Buying (Selling?) Party. Bring your sterling silver jewelry or serving pieces, tea sets, and candlesticks and your old-fashioned, outdated, bent or broken gold jewelry and trade everything in for something you can really use (especially just before the holidays): money. Our certified gold buyer will be here to weigh your pieces and give you the market rate. Then you can turn around and use it to buy gifts for the holidays without breaking your budget, right here at Leila Jewels.
Also planned (date is still TBD) is an evening to benefit The Dwelling Place (www.tdp-inc.org), a non-profit organization that provides housing opportunities and support services in Montgomery County for families experiencing homelessness, helping them to achieve and maintain self-sufficiency. A portion of all sales during the event will go to support this worthy organization, so you can buy your holiday gifts and support a wonderful cause at the same time.
As the holidays near we will extend our hours for those last minute gift-buying procrastinators. You'll find it VERY convenient that we're right in Cabin John Shopping Center because let's face it, no one wants to go to the mall during the holidays and hunt for parking. Plus we can wrap your gifts beautifully - we'll even wrap gifts you bought someplace else.
So mark your calendars and make sure you drop in for these exciting events. As always we'll have music, light refreshments and lots of beautiful things you'd never find at the mall!

I just got back from the New York accessories and jewelry shows where I ordered a ton of beautiful pieces for fall. Everything from soft gloves in bright colors, neon colored fur slap bracelets, wrap bracelets made with semi-precious stones, silk wrapped bangles, pearls woven with leather, soft leather wrap belts and much more will be coming in over the next couple of months.
In July at the Atlanta gift market we ordered huge fireplace candles, crystal candlesticks, woven bamboo serving pieces, fondue pots, knife sets, and more, all perfect for gift giving - hostess gifts, housewarmings, holidays, birthdays, you name it. In New York at the International Gift Show next week we'll order more unique items.
In order to make room for all these amazing items we're having a big Summer Sale, starting Sunday 8/12, with many select items marked down from 20-50%. Don't miss this chance to score big on jewelry, gifts and Judaica!
My connection in Shanghai recently shopped the pearl market and brought home long strands of large, well-matched freshwater pearls that we sell at prices well below market (since we can cut out the middleman wholesaler). We also have spectacular baroque pearl sets that would make a very special anniversary or holiday gift.
Plus, we now offer gift cards for any amount if you need to buy a special gift but just can't decide what to buy.
By the way - do you remember Carolyn's, the gift shop everyone in Potomac loved for years? Well Carolyn now works with Leila Jewels and she brings her retail expertise, design sense and wonderful taste back to our community. Stop in to say hello to her! So many people have expressed to me how much they miss having her around.
